2017 Schedule of Events


Tentative Schedule: Please check back for updates.

Online entries available.  All livestock and creative arts must register online by Thursday, August 3rd, 2017.  Commercial and Educational booths, Home Economics, Cut Flowers, Food Preparation, Apiary, Field Crops, Horticulture, Egg, Floral and Flower exhibits must register online.  Anyone needing assistance registering online may contact Kenya Wyatt at (870) 373-0333, fair manager, or by email at izardcountyfair@gmail.com

SATURDAY, JULY 1st:
Ownership deadline for livestock

MONDAY, JUNE 19th:
Online entries available.  All livestock must register online.  Commercial and Educational booths, Home Economics, Cut Flowers, Food Preparation, Apiary, Field Crops, Horticulture, Egg, Floral and Flower exhibits must also register online. 
WEDNESDAY, JULY 26th:
Deadline for Moss-Gallegos Memorial Scholarship application.  Applications must be postmarked by this date.  The scholarship application is available on the website under the Scholarship tab.
THURSDAY AUGUST 3rd:  
-All ONLINE entries are due; those entries are Creative Arts and Livestock.
 No entries accepted after August 3rd.
-Entry deadline for anyone entering the livestock Purple Circle. Entry must be made online.  No entries accepted after August 3rd
-Those entering the Bred and Owned need to have validation form signed and postmarked by July 23, 2017. Go to the fair website.
 No entries accepted after August 3rd


FRIDAY, AUGUST 4th:
-Talent entries are due. Go to the fair website for an entry form.
-Deadline for Rodeo Queens’ Contest Application. Applications must be received by this date. The application and riding pattern is available on the website under the Queens’ Contest tab.

MONDAY, AUGUST 7:
-Beauty Pageant Entries Due.  (Entry forms available on fair website at www.izardcofair.org.)
-12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.– Home Economics (except cut flowers and food preparation), Apiary, Field Crops & Horticulture, Egg, Floral, and Flower exhibits along with Educational and Commercial booths in place in Exhibit Building. All exhibits must be pre-registered and no exhibits will be accepted that are not pre-registered.

4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. –Horse Check-in at Rebecca Moser-Hickerson/Don W. Watson Memorial Arena.
6:00 p.m.  –Queen’s Contest at Rebecca Moser-Hickerson/Don W. Watson Memorial Arena.  Horse Show following the Queen’s Contest.  Horses may leave after the horse show.  Before exhibitors leave, they must be sure to receive donation names for letters to be eligible for Purple Circle items.  You may pick these up at the Livestock Office.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 8:
8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Cut Flowers, Food Preparation, and Aquaculture exhibits in place in Exhibit Building.
9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. - Exhibit Building closed for judging.
3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Exhibit Building open to public.
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.   Livestock weigh-in (sheep, goats, cattle) at the Johnnie Walker Livestock Barn.  Check-in is in the livestock office next to the show barn.  Exhibitors must be sure to receive donation names for letters to be eligible for Purple Circle items.  You may pick these up at the Livestock Office.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9:
10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. – Exhibit building open to public.
7:00 p.m. –Goat Judging at Johnnie Walker Livestock Barn.  The Sheep Judging will follow the goats.
9:00 p.m. –Exhibit Building Closes.


THURSDAY, AUGUST 10:
10:00 a.m. - Exhibit Building open to public.
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Poultry Testing (Covered Pavilion at Rebecca Moser-Hickerson/Don W. Watson Memorial Arena).
6:00 p.m. - Poultry and Rabbit exhibits in place -Poultry and Rabbit Barn
6:00 p.m.  – 8:00 p.m.  Swine Weigh-in at Johnnie Walker Livestock Barn.  Check-in is in the Livestock Office.
8:00 p.m. - ACA Rodeo
9:00 p.m.
- Exhibit Building closed

FRIDAY, AUGUST 11:
10:00 a.m. - Exhibit Building open to public.
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. – Poultry and Rabbit judging - Poultry and Rabbit Barn (Poultry Barn closed until 3:00 p.m.)
5:30 p.m. - Poultry Chain Auction - Poultry and Rabbit Barn
7:00 p.m. –Swine Judging at Johnnie Walker Livestock Barn.  Fat Hogs will show after all other swine.
8:00 p.m. - ACA Rodeo
10:00 p.m. - Exhibit Building closes.

SATURDAY, August 12:
9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Craft & Vendor Fair
10:00 a.m. – Cattle Judging at Johnnie Walker Livestock Barn.  Replacement Heifers will show after all other cattle.
-After the cattle show, we will sell Replacement Heifers and Fat Hogs at Johnnie Walker Livestock Barn.
-Animals may leave after the sale.

10:00 a.m. - Exhibit Building open to public.
2:00 p.m. – Creative Arts Grand Champion Photos in Exhibit Building.
4:00 p.m. – Beauty Pageants (John E. Miller Auditorium; Ozarka College) 
Baby Mister (0-18 months), Baby Miss (0-18 months), Tiny Mister (19 months to 3 years), Tiny Miss (19 months to 2 years), Little Miss (3-5 years), Petite Miss (6-7 years). Junior Miss (8-10 years); Young Miss (11-13 years); Junior Fair Queen (14-16 years), Winner is eligible to compete in the Arkansas State Fair Junior Fair Queen contest; Miss Izard County (17-21 years), Winner is eligible to compete in the Arkansas State Fair Queen contestTalent Show will begin immediately following Pageant. This date is dependent upon the number of entries and is subject to change.
2:00 p.m. – “Meet and greet” with Judges at Ozarka College for Beauty Pageant Contestants ages 14-21 years old ONLY
4:00 p.m. - Cow Patty Bingo
8:00 p.m. - Exhibit Building check out
BBQ Contest (details coming soon!)

Purple Circle Banquet is scheduled for November 4 at 7:00 p.m.  Exhibitors who win particular areas will have choices of prizes, so this will give time the prizes to be ordered.
